COLLECTIONS/SUBROGATION SPECIALIST
JOB
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is responsible specialized work in the processing and evaluating of complex
subrogation, property damage and bodily injury recovery
claims for Phoenix National’s clients. Work
involves responsibility for the processing and evaluating of claims regarding
all aspects of subrogation, property damage and medical reimbursements.
You will
exercise considerable independent judgment and decision making in
negotiating property damage settlements, medical payments. Primarily, work
entails heavy public contact in office telephone work and written
correspondence, some field investigation
will be required. Work is primarily intellectual and varies on a daily basis..
General supervision is performed by received from the collection manager held
accountable for insurance subrogation recovery.
ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS
Researches, evaluates and processes all aspects of property damage and
subrogation claims.
Prepares and submits investigation correspondence to attorneys and insurance
companies.
Negotiates claims collection settlement, subject to the managers approval after
discussing with the client. Obtains
written and recorded statements from witnesses and other parties, either by
telephone or a on-site visit.
Establishes and maintains files and tracking logs for subrogation, property
damage claims and special disability fund recovery.
Works with the various states department
of Motor Vehicles t0 suspend and reinstatement of the claimant driver license.
Establishes agreement for release and monthly payment contract monthly payment
contract with claimant. Works
closely with client adjusters to obtain necessary documentation and discuss
status. Provides assistance to Phoenix National Service Inc’s attorney network
for litigation collection cases. May
from time to time attends court hearings.
Performs other related work as required.
DESIRABLE
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
Considerable knowledge of State and Federal liability statutes and principles
and practices of property/casualty claims adjustment.
Ability to analyze multiple facts
and exercise sound judgment in arriving at a desired conclusion.
Ability to make plan, organize and work independently under minimal
supervision. Ability deal tactfully
and courteously with claimants, attorneys, physicians, City officials and the
general public. Ability to maintain
financial reports, accurately. Ability
to analyze accidents from written reports and local investigations.
Ability to express oneself clearly and effectively, orally and in writing.
Ability to operate in a high paced highly automated computer environment
efficiently.
DESIRABLE
BASIC TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from high school or its equivalent, possession of the State of
Florida class 520 or 620 license, and considerable (2 - 4 years) experience in
the filing and handling of subrogation claims or collections.
TOOLS AND
EQUIPMENT:
Personal computers including keyboard utilizing software programs including:
Microsoft Word, Excel and Corporate Systems; typewriters, copiers, calculators,
fax machine and other related office equipment. Individual should be comfortable working with work flow systems and
automated dialing and template word processing systems.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Subrogation
work
is performed in a temperature controlled office setting, mostly from a
seated position at a modular workstation. The noise level in the work
environment is usually moderate to low as with most offices.
Collection
work can be performed at any location where a high-speed internet connection is
available.
